The role

This position is a maternity cover at Associate Manager level, with the primary objective of fostering community and accelerating the expansion of our global Fintech group. The role involves strategic efforts to secure innovative financial technology mandates from a diverse portfolio of new and existing clients within the financial services sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing our market presence and contributing to the group's success by leveraging industry knowledge and networks to capture leading-edge opportunities for profitable work in the Fintech domain.

 

Who you will work with

Our Fintech group is a multi-practice global team delivering strategic advice to financial services and fintech clients and is closely linked to our global Tech Group. The Fintech group straddles all practice areas of the firm and combines to provide multi-disciplinary transactional and financial regulatory advice, as well as advice on contentious matters, to established and emerging participants in fintech.

You will work with dynamic partners and ambitious associates and counsels focused on fintech work with local business development teams across key financial centres (including New York, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Washington). You will also work closely with BD leads for the various practice areas, Tech theme and TMT sector and other business professionals including the Fintech Knowledge Director to deliver our global Fintech strategy.

 

What you will be responsible for

You will work with the global Fintech co-heads and steerco team to execute the global Fintech business plan for Year 2. Driving the development of our client targeting, market our existing strengths and relationships and police the day-to-day execution of client action plans and deliverables.

  • You will take the lead on identifying opportunities to increase our market share by winning more work covering major transactions, risk mandates, strategic advice and complex projects involving the most innovative technologies from blockchain, robo-advisory and digital assets, to quantum computing.     

You will work alongside our global AI taskforce on AI-related opportunities.

 

What you will do

This role requires the individual to deliver effective project management of high-profile cross-jurisdictional and cross-practice initiatives. 

Key activities could include, but are not restricted to, the following: 

  • Work with the global Fintech co-heads and core team to execute the global Fintech business plan for Year 2
  • Working across our three traditional practice groups (Corporate, Global Financial Markets and Litigation & Dispute Resolution) to identify synergies and consolidate opportunities and activities between teams
  • Develop a strategy/offering for any new and evolving areas of financial technology
  • Drive targeted client engagement with integrated, multi-channel Fintech campaigns, working closely with BD, Knowledge, Brand, Communications and Marketing colleagues
  • Manage the cross-practice production of strategically significant RFP responses, pitches and capability statements
  • Develop key messages and centralised client-facing collateral and capability statements that are regularly maintained
  • Work closely with Client Development Managers ("CDMs") in particular in conjunction with the firm's Global Strategic Client ("GSC") teams assigned to Tech and Bank clients to drive engagement and identify opportunities on some of the firm's largest client accounts, while supporting our local office teams with their local engagement plans into start-ups with accelerator and innovation labs
  • Work closely with partners to enhance their profile and communicate expanded capabilities both internally and externally
  • Working closely with the Fintech Knowledge Director, to promote internally and externally Thought Leadership content
  • Provide strategic advice and operational support with regard to fintech sponsorships, speaking opportunities and events
  • Coordinating global directory and awards submissions with CMDs teams.

How we will support you

The current Executive Manager will facilitate a seamless transition for the maternity cover candidate stepping into the Global Fintech CMD role by offering comprehensive support and insight into the planning for the upcoming financial year. This includes sharing a detailed schedule of events, sponsorships, and business development (BD) initiatives that have already received approval for FY25.

To ensure the candidate is well-versed in the strategic direction, the Executive Manager will provide a thorough briefing on the Fintech strategy plan, focusing on the critical deliverables set for the second year.

Additionally, the candidate will be equipped with an approved budget, which outlines all the planned activities for the forthcoming financial year, enabling them to manage resources effectively and align their efforts with the group's objectives.
