Associate, Antitrust
"The culture at Clifford Chance is supportive and inclusive. The firm supports you by encouraging you to have one-on-one contact with clients, such as by leading calls or really being responsible for your workstreams."
I am an Associate in the Antitrust practice in Brussels. I joined Clifford Chance in October 2022, after gaining antitrust experience at a US law firm in Brussels and an Indian law firm in Mumbai.
What led you to specialise in your practice area and what keeps you passionate?
I got into competition law by accident! When I was studying law in India, I was selected to participate in an exchange programme that took me to Barcelona. Intrigued by European law courses, I decided to take the EU competition law class there and found it very interesting. It was then that I decided to pursue an internship in this area, which further solidified my interest. Eventually, I did my Master's degree in London, specialising in EU Competition law.
How would you describe the culture at the firm?
The culture at Clifford Chance is supportive and inclusive. What I really enjoy about the firm is that we truly work as a team. The firm supports you by encouraging you to have one on one contact with clients, such as by leading calls or really being responsible for your workstreams. We have various tools that truly foster teamwork and collaboration, and people in the firm network are always ready to help.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Clifford Chance?
Be the most authentic version of yourself, don't be afraid to ask questions, and engage in continuous learning.
How do you maintain a work-life balance?
I prioritise my family, health and body, taking time to work out (nothing like an endorphin rush)! I also try to manage my time in the most efficient way possible, focusing on one task at a time and knowing when to say "no" to additional work. I find talking to my senior colleagues in a stressful moment very helpful as they have navigated these challenges before (and continue to do so).
