This role is being advertised for our London office, and we also welcome applications from candidates within Continental Europe, where Clifford Chance has an office.

The Role

You will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the operating model, and impact of the HR function. 

You will be leading the alignment of HR practices with the firm’s strategy and people and talent agenda. A key area of focus is leading process improvements, end to end process design, and a global consistent approach, underpinned by automation/Workday.

 

Who you will work with

You will collaborate with senior HR leaders, HR teams, and other functions to design and execute HR transformation initiatives and programmes.

You will report to the Chief People Officer and work closely with the HR Leadership Team.

 

What you will be responsible for

You will develop and implement an HR transformation roadmap aligned with the firm's strategy. You will lead the adoption of Workday, automation, and data-driven decision-making, and identify opportunities for process optimization. You will collaborate with senior HR leaders and teams, support the redesign of global HR processes, and communicate transformation goals to stakeholders.

Additionally, you will ensure smooth adoption of initiatives, design transition programs, work with cross-functional teams and vendors, and implement user-friendly HR solutions. You will measure the impact of transformation efforts, ensure compliance with policies, establish HR governance frameworks, and monitor industry trends.

 

What you will do

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive HR transformation roadmap aligned with the firm’s strategy.
  • Lead the utilization/adoption of Workday, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for process design and optimization and operational efficiencies across HR functions.
  • Develop a HR Service catalogue for the function covering all areas of expertise and roles, in conjunction with CoE's and role holders.
  • Work with senior HR leaders, HR teams as a true SME to advance the transformation agenda.
  • Support the redesign of global HR processes to ensure global consistency, compliance and best practice whilst complying with local legal and regulatory requirements. 
  • Communicate transformation goals, progress, and benefits effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure smooth adoption of HR transformation initiatives in partnership with Change & Comms Lead and wider team.
  • Design and deliver the transition of work program (analysis of existing processes and throwing/catching sessions) including the opportunity for automation.
  • Work with cross functional project teams and vendors to deliver milestones on time, within scope and budget.
  • Support the redesign of HR processes to enhance efficiency, reduce complexity, and improve employee satisfaction.
  • Implement solutions that promote self-service, automation, and user-friendly HR interactions.
  • Measure and analyze the impact of transformation efforts, using KPIs and employee feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure HR transformation initiatives comply with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
  • Establish HR governance frameworks to ensure compliance and maintain strategic alignment.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to keep HR transformation efforts forward-thinking and competitive.

 


Qualifications

Your Experience

Skills

  • Strategic thinking and ability to align HR transformation with firm strategy.
  • Strong project management and change management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leadership.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to drive cultural change and foster innovation within HR functions.

 

Experience

  • HR business partnering and HR functional experience critical.
  • Global experience critical.
  • Experience in global HR transformation, leading large-scale HR projects, digital HR implementations, or process reengineering.
  • Proven experience leading global HR transformation in complex, matrixed global environments.

 

Knowledge

  • Expertise in Workday, digital transformation, and process automation.
  • Strong understanding of modern HR operating models, digital HR tools, and process improvement methodologies.

This role follows our 'balanced' hybrid working approach and as long as business needs allow, you will be supported to work in a hybrid way with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of your time.
