Job Description

The role

 

As the Internal Communications Manager you will be a key member of the global Brand Communications and Marketing (BCM) team. 

You will provide strategic/senior level communications support to the firm's leadership as they engage and support the global partnership around the firm's strategy and its implementation. 

You will develop effective relationships with senior stakeholders across the business designing and delivering multi-channel communication plans and campaigns that drive partner, lawyer and business professionals' engagement, and support the firm in achieving its growth ambitions.

 

Who you will work with

 

You will work with the firm's leadership teams including the Global Managing Partner, members of the Executive Leadership Group (ELG), the Partnership Council and the ELG Committees (the Clients, Markets and Products, the Operations and Business Transformation and the People and Talent Committees), Practice and functional leaders.  

You will also work in tandem with the Global Head of Brand, Communications and Marketing (BCM); the Head of Marketing; the Global Head of External Communications; the Global Head of Internal Communications; the BCM Leadership Team; along with external communications and marketing colleagues to ensure we develop and deliver consistent, coherent, and compelling messages across all stakeholder groups.

 

What you will be responsible for

 

You will routinely provide clear, senior level counsel and solutions for significant communications initiatives. You will influence and work with numerous Clifford Chance Partners and leaders on our global firm strategy by delivering purposeful, engaging, and impactful communications.

What you will do

 

  • Plan, design and implement creative, impactful, and effective  communications to support the Clifford Chance global partnership, practices and functions. These communications could include written, digital and face to face communication events such as town hall meetings, partnership meetings, presentations, emails, social media posts and videos.
  • Use understanding of the firm's strategy and priorities to build a compelling narrative that informs, engages and inspires the global partnership, practices and functions.
  • Develop briefings and create presentations and scripts for speaking opportunities.
  • Write compelling copy that brings the firm's strategy to life. 
  • Align internal communications with the firm's external and digital communications activities and across key communications channels.
  • Co-ordinate BCM resources (external, internal, digital and social media teams to position the firm with key stakeholders).
  • Plan and drive the firm's internal social media activity in partnership with the marketing and social media teams. 
  • Build communications capabilities with key leaders; coaching and helping them deliver engaging and authentic communications.
  • Ensure consistency across all communications and acting as brand guardian for our tone of voice. 
  • Regularly evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the communications outputs and adapt them accordingly. Make full use of the available channels and tools to measure the effectiveness of communications.
  • Assist with critical firm communications such as appointments and financial performance reporting. 
  • Drive other communications activities and projects as needed within the BCM global team.

Skills

You will have:

 

  • The ability to work with a wide range of internal stakeholders and instil trust and confidence with senior leaders. 
  • Flexible and effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels, including remotely in international offices, with a professional, confident manner.
  • Strong networking skills with the ability to influence and inspire change.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisation and project management skills in order to successfully manage several projects at once. 

 

Experience

You will have:

  • Prior experience of working within a related field.
  • Experience of advising and working with C-Suite personnel/ Partners in a large complex organisation/company.
  • Experience of developing, supervising and implementing significant communications programmes and their associated workstreams. 
  • Significant experience in copywriting and speechwriting. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing and executing a variety of communications channels, including town hall meetings; intranet; video; enterprise-wide social media, and publishing tools.

 

Knowledge

  • You will have a strong grasp on global issues, current events and business trends, and you will be a strategic thinker. 

 

Qualifications

  • You will ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent in journalism, communications, or English.

The Global BCM team meets regularly via a wide range of updates and briefings designed to achieve knowledge understanding and alignment for all communications activities across the firm.  The team regularly manages global initiatives which allows team members to connect with global colleagues and to build experience and skills outside of their daily work. The team also develops and delivers specific training for the team which focuses on the specialist skills required.

Hybrid Working

 

This role follows our 'balanced' hybrid working approach and as long as business needs allow, you will be supported to work in a hybrid way with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of your time.
