"The culture at Clifford Chance is underpinned by inclusion and collaboration. Our firm promotes collaboration across the network, both regionally and globally, by way of development programs and training at different levels of seniority and organically through cross-border and cross-practice transactions."
I joined Clifford Chance in 2017, completed my training contract and qualified with the Corporate M&A team in Hong Kong. I am now a Senior Associate and have worked in our Sydney and Hong Kong offices.
What led you to specialise in your practice area and what keeps you passionate?
My decision to specialise in M&A was driven by the variety of work and the opportunity to engage in deals involving businesses in diverse sectors and geographies. My ongoing interest is fuelled by the dynamic legal and business challenges and the satisfaction from helping our clients achieve their commercial goals.
How did your initial assumptions about being a lawyer change as your career progressed?
I initially anticipated the role to primarily revolve around advising on the law and drafting legal documents. However, soon after I started my journey, it became clear that being an M&A lawyer encompasses much more than mastering legal technicalities. One of the key facets of our work is to address the business concerns of the client. It is crucial that we understand the client's commercial realities in order to provide effective and practical legal solutions that align with the client's objectives.
How would you describe the culture at the firm?

Our firm promotes collaboration across the network, both regionally and globally, by way of development programs and training at different levels of seniority and organically through cross-border and cross-practice transactions. This fosters a collegiate approach to work.
