Job Description

The Client & Market Development team is responsible for helping partners to develop the firm’s business, build its relationships with existing and potential clients and to manage the development of markets. Your focus will be to deliver the highest client value through client and market strategies.

You will liaise directly with partners, lawyers and other business services professionals and work very closely with the Asia Pacific Clients & Market Development and Brand, Communications and Marketing team across our eight Asia Pacific offices.

This is a hands-on role yet strategic thinking role that requires a considered individual who can work with minimal supervision and deliver value across every aspect. Key attributes are a genuine enthusiasm to be a part of a busy team, an ability to prioritise, willingness and ability to take ownership of tasks with strong attention to detail.

You will be credible, engaging and considered, with the ability to build relationships across many levels of business. You must be a proven collaborator, a strong team player and be comfortable taking ownership of the tasks at hand. You must be driven, resilient, genuine and committed. You will know how to jump into the operational detail and how to step back to advise the business.

The successful candidate must have experience in producing high quality pitches and proposals in both Chinese and English, preferably in law firms. Experience dealing with procurement type request for proposals (RFPs) will be a plus. Ability to innovate and improve existing processes is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy: clients and products:

  • Provide a lead role in revenue generation for the ECM and Corporate/M&A practices and particularly identify and co-ordinate cross-selling opportunities across practice areas, sector specialists and relationship partners and encourage partners to win work in teams.
  • Lead all significant pitches and proposals (in Word, PowerPoint or other formats designated) in relevant areas positioning our value proposition based upon a clear insight of the client needs, and industry trends.
  • Prepare marketing materials for client meetings and internal/external events. Manage standard BD and marketing materials (brochures, capability statements, standard bid text and descriptions, deal lists and presentations) and ensure those “off-the-shelf” materials are kept up to date in both English and Chinese.
  • Lead the development of short- and long-term strategic plans for selected clients and practices in the China offices which align with the broad goals of the Asia Pacific region and the Firm by assessing present and future needs, market trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Institutionalising the client feedback process within the China offices.

Brand, communications and marketing:

  • Design, manage and deliver all types of client events in China from invitation preparation and client list compilation to on-site support and post-event follow ups. 
  • Help with the organization and logistic arrangements of overseas partner visits to China offices.
  • Work closely with the regional Brand, Communications and Marketing (BCM) team and external PR agency to manage the firm's WeChat account.
  • Coordinate with the regional BCM team and external PR agency to identify and arrange media interviews and publicity opportunities for the China practice.
  • Lead the submissions to legal directories and league tables, including drafting directories and awards submissions and managing depositories of rankings and firm accolades.
  • Coordinate with fee earners and Knowledge & Information team to produce and distribute external client briefing and other know-hows.

Operational management:

  • Ensure adequate use and maintenance of key business development infrastructure, i.e., Foundation, InterAction, etc.
  • Lead projects for the function to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the team and develop the skills and best practice of the team.

Participate and contribute to additional firm-wide or practice specific projects as required.

 

 


Qualifications

      • Bachelor degree or above major in marketing/media/English preferably
      • Minimum 8 years experience with professional service industry or multinational companies focusing on businessdevelopment/marketing. Prior experience in international law firms a valuable addition but not a must
      • Excellent English skills both oral and written
      • Good computer skills, e.g. Excel, Words, PPT and other database systems
      • Organized, dedicated, proactive, with strong communication/interpersonal skills
