The role
AS&H Clifford Chance is seeking a Senior Business Development Executive / Manager to support the firm’s continued growth and market positioning in Saudi Arabia. The role sits within the Client & Market Development function and reports to the Head of Business Development.
The position supports a market-leading legal practice in a fast-growing and highly competitive market, combining global best practice with deep local expertise. The role will play a key part in strengthening the firm’s profile in Saudi Arabia through high-quality marketing, events and communications, while also supporting core business development activity including pitches, proposals and market profiling.
The primary focus of the role is on marketing and events, delivering a structured and professional annual programme that enhances client engagement and brand visibility. In parallel, the role contributes to the effective delivery of pitches and BD initiatives, applying global Clifford Chance standards, tools and processes to the Saudi market.
Key responsibilities
Marketing, Events & Market Profile
- Support the development and delivery of the annual marketing and events plan for the Riyadh office, aligned with firm, regional and global priorities.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of client-facing events, including firm-hosted seminars, roundtables and receptions, as well as participation in major external conferences and initiatives (e.g. Riyadh International Dispute Week).
- Manage all aspects of event planning and execution, including logistics, budgeting, stakeholder coordination and post-event follow-up.
- Work closely with partners and lawyers to ensure events are strategically focused, commercially relevant and deliver a clear return on investment.
- Support cross-practice and firmwide initiatives that enhance the firm’s market visibility and reputation in Saudi Arabia.
Communications, Digital & Thought Leadership
- Oversee and coordinate marketing content for regional digital channels, including LinkedIn and the firm’s website, ensuring consistency with global standards.
- Support the development of high-quality thought leadership content, including client briefings, insights, reports and deal highlights.
- Coordinate firmwide and regional client communications, including newsletters and targeted campaigns.
- Maintain and update website content, including practice and sector pages and lawyer biographies, ensuring timely publication of deals, insights and campaigns.
- Ensure content is accurate, on-brand and effectively delivered in both English and Arabic.
Business Development, Pitches & Proposals
- Provide project management and hands-on support across a portfolio of pitches, RFPs and proposals for the Saudi market, in line with Clifford Chance best practice.
- Work closely with partners and BD leadership to analyse incoming opportunities and support go / no-go decision-making.
- Lead and coordinate pitch processes, including strategy development, messaging, drafting and review of materials, rehearsals and presentations.
- Play an active role in post-pitch activity, including obtaining client feedback and facilitating internal debriefs.
- Support the continuous development and sharing of proposals best practice across the Riyadh office.
Legal Directories & Market Intelligence
- Support legal directory submissions (e.g. Chambers, Legal 500), including matter capture, drafting and coordination of partner input and interviews.
- Work with lawyers to gather accurate and compelling information, ensuring submissions are timely and of consistently high quality.
- Assist with client and market research to support BD activity, pitches and broader market positioning initiatives.
Your experience
The successful candidate should have:
- 4+ years’ experience in business development, marketing or communications, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong experience supporting competitive pitches and proposals, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams to a high standard under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrable experience delivering marketing initiatives and client-facing events in a professional services context.
- Fluent in Arabic and English (written and spoken), with strong drafting and presentation capability in both languages.
- Highly organised, with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work closely with partners and senior lawyers.
- Proactive, commercially minded and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Degree qualified.
