The role
Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a full-time Legal Project Manager to support our Corporate practice. This position may be based in either Washington, D.C. or Houston, TX, and will report to the Senior Legal Project Manager – Corporate and the Director of Legal Project Management. The Legal Project Management function is part of our "Best Delivery" hubs, which are aligned with our global business units: Corporate, Global Financial Markets, and Litigation & Dispute Resolution. Best Delivery is designed to ensure an exceptional client experience on every matter, every time. Through the use of continuous improvement methodologies, smart technology, and optimized resourcing, we aim to enhance outcomes for our clients’ businesses. This initiative is a key component of our global Innovation program and plays a vital role in driving meaningful change across the Firm.
As a Legal Project Manager, you will have impact on how we deliver high end complex legal advice to our biggest clients.
You will work on client matters and deals, as a core part of the client team recording time against those matters.
You will help enhance the client experience and add value through efficient project management.
You will track workstreams, work with clients, monitor resourcing, manage budgets, and integrate "best delivery" solutions into our largest and most complex projects. You will also bring new ideas and expertise to an evolving role within a rapidly changing legal market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting with the preparation of all project initiation documentation – such as preparing scope, resourcing, and budget proposals for relevant matters or workstreams and then tracking progress against those proposals
- Dissecting problems and processes and apply logical and analytical approaches to solving them.
- Positively influencing the individuals you work with (across a range of roles and seniority) to change and adapt their ways of working
- Managing effective planning: over the short, medium, and long term, then execute against those plans, such as documenting minutes, actions and tracking workstreams.
- Continually assessing and understanding where issues are and how they can be addressed and then provide and implement pragmatic solutions to ensure the program moves forward.
- Identifying risks and providing alternative solutions to mitigate the risk.
- Monitoring accruals and managing the project against agreed budgets including scope change
- Advising, recommending, and engaging with legal technology tools available, to provide support to efficiently manage your projects
- Demonstrating knowledge of working with Best Delivery technology.
- Ability to advise on requirements and supporting implementation for efficient delivery
- Assessing the activities required and ensuring we are delegating appropriate tasks to Legal Project Analyst team to efficiently manage your projects
- Delivering presentations and facilitating workshops and form part of the client pitch teams
Your experience
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience in project management, ideally gained within a professional services or complex matrix environment, or as a lawyer with experience of matter management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

- Documented project management experience
- A formal project management qualification is a plus (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Six Sigma, Lean or Black Belt)
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision within a team-oriented environment
- Must be willing to work outside the core business hours
- Must be able to adhere and comply to the Firm's Agile Working Policy which requires employees to work from the office at least three days each calendar week
- Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States.
Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $ 130,000 – 170,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.

Hybrid Working
Due to the nature of this role, office attendance is required for more than our 'balanced' hybrid working policy. The expectation for this role is to be working in the office for a minimum of 60% of your time.
