Additional Information

Our values-based Code of Conduct is built around five principles that reflect who we are and what we stand for. It is not simply a list of rules; it is a practical guide to ethical decision-making, expected behaviours, and how we apply our values in our everyday roles.

Principles of our Code

  • Act with Integrity – Our reputation as a firm and as individuals is built on trust, honesty, integrity, decency, and strong moral principles. Every person, regardless of role or seniority, contributes to protecting that reputation.
  • Be Inclusive – We value inclusion and diversity as essential to excellence. We embrace differences, ensure all voices are heard, and treat people with fairness, dignity, respect, and empathy.
  • Embrace Challenge – We foster an environment where people can question the status quo and provide honest, constructive feedback so that individuals and teams can develop and thrive.
  • Speak Up – We encourage people to raise concerns and express views confidently. Where behaviour is inappropriate, disrespectful, aggressive, unethical, or otherwise concerning, it should be raised through the appropriate firm channels.

Act Responsibly – We aim to create a positive, responsible, and lasting impact. We consider the effect of our work on clients, colleagues, stakeholders, and the wider community, while supporting human rights and environmentally sustainable practices.

Equal Opportunities

At Clifford Chance, we recognise that our people are our greatest asset. We want everyone to experience both equality of opportunity and equality of experience, and we continue to develop inclusive and innovative ways to make that happen.

We are committed to treating all employees and job applicants fairly and equally, regardless of gender, gender identity, and expression, marital or civil partnership status, race, colour, national or ethnic origin, social or economic background, disability, religious belief, sexual orientation, or age. This commitment applies to recruitment, pay, promotion, training, transfer, and every other aspect of employment.

The firm regularly reviews its procedures and selection criteria to ensure that decisions are based on relevant ability and merit.

We also support this commitment through a range of initiatives and networks, including those focused on LGBT, gender parity, ethnicity, and disability.
