Associate Global Financial Markets

We are looking to expand our Global Financial Markets team with a talented and driven Associate with a focus on Projects and Project Finance. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team advising sponsors and lenders, on the structuring and execution of complex project finance deals. The team is a combination of finance, corporate and regulatory lawyers who are best in class, pragmatic and work on the headline projects relevant for the energy transition. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to market-leading transactions that shape the future of sustainable infrastructure globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on all legal aspects of project finance transactions, including structuring, documentation, and negotiation.
• Draft, review and negotiate finance and security documents, including loan agreements, intercreditor arrangements, and direct agreements.
• Coordinate with local counsel and other Clifford Chance offices on multi-jurisdictional matters.
• Support clients throughout the transaction lifecycle, from term sheet to financial close to operational phase etc and on many aspects.
• Conduct legal due diligence and risk analysis on project structures and counterparties.
• Stay on top of legal developments in the project finance and energy sectors and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.

Your experience

• You have at least 3–6 years of experience in finance and/or transaction law, ideally with exposure to project finance. Candidates with a strong foundation in general finance or transactional work and a strong and demonstrable interest in developing a practice in project finance are also encouraged to apply. You need to be able to pick up new elements.
• You are qualified under the Dutch bar.
• You have a strong academic background with excellent credentials and legal training from a reputable firm.
• You have experience with cross-border transactions, international clients and familiarity with market-standard documentation.
• You are a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is driven to achieve shared goals.
• You have a hands-on mindset, can adapt and enjoy the fast pace of a transactional environment.
• You have first class drafting capabilities, highly developed analytical and project management skills and enjoy thinking outside the box.
• You posses commercial awareness, a likeability factor with clients and drive and have genuine interest in and knowledge of infrastructure and energy markets.
• You are fluent in English and Dutch.
