Job Description

Clifford Chance's Data Privacy team sits within the Risk and Compliance department based across our London, Delhi Warsaw and Newcastle offices.  The team manages the firm's compliance with data privacy law and regulation. The data privacy team provides advice and support to the firm's business functions and practice areas.  They cover a range of operational issues from data privacy impact assessments to data subject rights requests, the firm's international data transfers, the data privacy framework and advisory work.

As a part of the Data Privacy team responsible for the UK and Europe, you will support the Data Privacy Manager in the delivery of the firm's data privacy compliance across Europe.  You will work in a close-knit team of data privacy specialists, coordinating efforts on data protection compliance, supporting the mandatory compliance activities in the region and advising internally on best practice.

You will manage day-to-day compliance tasks, ensuring our operations align with data protection regulations. You will:

  • Act as the first line of support for data privacy compliance in the Warsaw hub and practicing offices, engaging with stakeholders to drive data privacy compliance
  • Support the maintenance of records of processing activities for the region, engaging with stakeholders to ensure that records remain accurate and up to date
  • Conduct legitimate interests assessments, transfer impact assessments and other statutory assessments as required
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the global data protection impact assessment process and supporting local offices as needed
  • Support the firm's response data subject requests, maintaining records, coordinating searches and working with stakeholders to manage the review and disclosure processes
  • Co-ordinate the response to queries, providing guidance on data protection, compliance with the firm's privacy policies, escalating where appropriate
  • Co-ordinate mandatory and non mandatory training requirements and delivery across the region
  • Other support to the Europe Data Privacy Manager  as required.

Qualifications

Experience in a similar role within a legal or corporate environment is required.

You will need to demonstrate that you can thrive in a team with high professional standards and a flexible client-friendly commercial approach.

You should demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills along with a high level of commercial awareness. A good understanding of GDPR and European data protection laws is required.

Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience in using data privacy management tools and software.
