The Role
The ABC Specialist will support management and risk professionals based in various Clifford Chance's offices in the activities below:
- Review, develop and implement a robust framework for Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) Risk & Controls .
- Assess and monitor the ABC risks and controls for the Firm globally.
- Be the point of contact for administering an enterprise-wide ABC Risk Management programme, including but not limited to developing and reviewing policies and procedures to mitigate risk exposure.
- Be a subject matter expert and point of contact for answering any technical queries on Bribery and Corruption across all Firm Offices
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, report and escalate risks in line with Firm's Risk and Compliance frameworks, utilising relevant tools and analytical techniques.
- Review activities to remediate control gaps and assess whether the ABC risks have been fully mitigated and whether the implemented controls are sustainable for the Firm.
- Liaise with various stakeholders across all offices to keep up to date on latest developments including the details of implementing legislation, guidance notes from authorities etc.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of data available in connection with ABC risks.
- Evaluate and advise on appropriate systems to manage ABC risks and work on implementation.
- Provide guidance to all staff to ensure compliance with relevant Policies, Standards, frameworks and procedures across Business Units, Functions and Offices.
- Serving as a key advisor to the management on proper remediation of examination and/ or audit findings related to ABC.
- Meet the needs of key internal and external risk processes, reporting schedules, stakeholders and regulatory authorities in delivering assurance activities.
- Implement and strengthen existing controls on Gifts and Hospitality and periodically report to management on trends and gaps noted.
- Assisting/managing any reporting requirements and maintaining process documentation / records for audit purposes.
- Assisting in developing country-specific guidelines / trainings and policy updates.
- Actively participate in broader compliance related projects and initiatives.
Your experience
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor's/master's degrees in law / management / finance (or equivalent).
- 10+ years of experience in an international professional services firm in Compliance/Legal/Regulatory Function.
- Specialist Risk and/or Control-related qualification – formal accreditation / qualification relating to audit, risk and/or control etc.
Technical knowledge
- Working knowledge and understanding of the requirements under various ABC Regulations e.g. Bribery and Corruption Act, FCPA and similar.
- Experience in working with Banks and other Financial Institutions (ideal but not essential)
- Experience working within a highly regarded accountancy or law firm (ideal but not essential)
- Exposure to Omnitrack / Fusion tools will be an added advantage.
Communicating & Influencing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise at all levels within the Firm.
- Experience to consolidate and process information from multiple sources to create meaningful insight and reporting for stakeholders.
- Ability to influence partners and senior management and to communicate a risk and compliance view clearly, succinctly and persuasively by telephone, in writing and in person.
- Ability to advise on complex issues and processes across all levels of the organisation.
