The Role
The role is in the Business Development, Marketing & Communications team in the Paris office, which forms part of the regional Business Development team in Continental Europe as well being fully integrated with the global Business Development team.
The Business Development team puts the internal and external clients of our office at the core of everything we do. We contribute to the Firm's strategy by developing our business, amongst others, around:
- Winning the right work: be a trusted business adviser to the Partners and provide them with high quality pitch documents and other marketing materials to help them win the right work for the right clients.
- Client focus & relationship management: work with Partners to take selected key clients to the next level, spot commercial opportunities and realise income gains.
Who you will work with
The Business Development team, together with the Partners and lawyers, works to surpass the expectations of our demanding clients (multinational companies, local companies, financial institutions, governments, etc.). We work in a very sensitive, complex and international context, often against tight deadlines and are adamant about applying the highest quality standards every day.
What you will be responsible for
The main responsibilities of this role are the following:
- Prepare, draft and coordinate pitches, proposals and RFP responses (often spanning multiple countries and practice areas) in collaboration with the Business Development head, the Partners and lawyers, both in the local office and across the Continental European region and global Clifford Chance network.
- Handle requests from other offices for input on international pitches and other documents demonstrating our capabilities.
- Identify and understand the Firm's relevant experience and knowledge in order to provide tailor-made, high quality and work-winning pitches and proposals, based on an understanding of the client's business and relevant recent developments as well as their specific needs and demands.
- Track new and developing business activities and opportunities in the Firm's systems
- Prepare and coordinate directory submissions (independent external rankings of our various practices as compared to those of other law firms) and nominations for awards in order to raise our external profile.
- Conduct competitive intelligence and market research in preparation for client and prospect meetings, pitches/proposals, and other business development initiatives.
- Maintain and update marketing materials, including practice group descriptions, lists of representative matters, CVs, brochures, etc. and assist with general marketing information requests.
- Contribute to external and internal communications as requested in collaboration with the Communications team.
- Provide support for business development initiatives and client events for the area in scope working with the events team at local, regional and global level.
- Manage the relationship with Global Strategic clients, contributing to identify opportunities for cross-practice and cross-border growth
Your career experience so far
- You have at least five years experience of working in a marketing or business development team, ideally within the professional services market or equivalent experience in a client development/account management role.
- You have experience of /an interest in financial markets and/or the banking industry.
- You communicate clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing, in both English and French (including strong editing and proofing ability and attention to detail)
- You are able to demonstrate a track record of being pro-active and delivering high quality work
- You prioritise projects and deliver quickly on requests which have a short turnaround time
- You have a flexible working approach and the confidence to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with people at all levels of seniority.
- You are used to working in a highly demanding environment, often against tight deadlines.
- You have strong general software skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Experience of using CRM systems is also preferable.
- You are able to form strong working relationships with others and uses those relationships to benefit both the group and the firm as a whole
- You are motivated by client satisfaction and strive to exceed the expectations of the clients (both internal and external).
Qualifications
You have a bachelor or master's degree in law, business, economics, marketing, information & communications or equivalent.
