Job Description

The Role

To reinforce its energy and infrastructure team, Clifford Chance is currently looking for a public procurement lawyer with two to five years of experience.

Our global energy and infrastructure group is a multi-disciplinary team of highly-experienced lawyers who provide innovative legal advice on large infrastructure projects. In Brussels, we particularly focus on the grid and renewable energy sector (including offshore wind, grid connection assets, green hydrogen production and CCUS).  On these projects, we often advise on public tenders and a range of public procurement law issues.

What you will be responsible for

You will provide legal services to our clients, with a focus on public procurement law and tendering of large infrastructure projects in the renewable energy sector.

You will have a key role in assisting clients to manage their key project risks through robust contract drafting. You will actively participate in workshop meetings with clients' project teams and assist these project teams in their negotiation meetings with prospective EPC contractors, co-project developers, etc.  An essential part of your role will be to advise on the public procurement aspects of a tender so any previous experience in this area is certainly a plus.

You will amongst others deal with public procurement law and contracts with public law entities, energy law related matters or public law issues arising in connection with large infrastructure projects and corporate or real estate transactions more generally.

You will be part of a team of specialized lawyers and will continue to develop your expertise in all aspects of public and administrative law. You will work as an integrated team member with all other practices of our Belgian law group.

Qualifications

Your experience

You have successfully obtained a Belgian Master's degree in law and possibly an additional degree abroad. You have an excellent academic record, complemented by practical experience. You are fluent in English, French and Dutch.

You are an excellent communicator and have a genuine interest in large infrastructure projects and the renewable energy sector.

You have the drive to convince and the energy and analytical skills necessary to master complex matters.

We are looking for lawyers with two to five years of relevant experience

How we will support you

From your first day with us, you will have varied opportunities to continuously grow and development your skills and knowledge. From formal training, informal coaching and mentoring through to skills-based and technical training and on the job learning.
