Job description
The role
The Head of Events and Strategic Sponsorship will lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of the firm's events and sponsorship initiatives, aligning them with the firm's business development and brand-building strategies. This senior role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to oversee all aspects of event management and sponsorships while fostering key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Strategy and Execution:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive events strategy that supports the firm's business goals, client engagement, and brand visibility.
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all firm-hosted events, including client seminars, networking receptions, thought leadership panels and large-scale client entertaining.
- Manage event logistics, including venue selection, budgeting, vendor negotiations, and post-event evaluation.
- Ensure all events deliver a high-quality experience and align with the firm's brand standards and strategic objectives.
Sponsorship Management:
- Identify and evaluate strategic sponsorship opportunities that align with the firm's practice areas, target markets, and brand objectives.
- Negotiate sponsorship agreements and manage relationships with sponsored organizations and industry associations.
- Measure the return on investment (ROI) of sponsorships and provide recommendations for optimization.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a team of event professionals and external vendors to ensure successful delivery of all initiatives.
- Collaborate with practice group leaders, partners, and the business development team to align event content with client needs and market opportunities.
- Work closely with the communications team to promote events and sponsorships through targeted campaigns and media coverage (where applicable).
Budget Management and Reporting:
- Develop and manage the events and sponsorship budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Track key metrics and prepare reports on the performance and ROI of events and sponsorship initiatives.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership for continuous improvement.
Your experience
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7–10 years of experience in event management, sponsorship strategy, or a related role, ideally within professional services or a corporate environment.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale events and managing high-profile sponsorships.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong strategic thinking and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in event management software, CRM platforms, and other relevant tools.
- Familiarity with the legal industry or professional services environment is a plus.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Successful execution of events and sponsorships within budget and timelines.
- Measurable impact on client engagement and business development.
- Positive feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
- Consistent improvement in ROI of events and sponsorship initiatives.
- Domestic travel with occasional international travel required
- Must be able to adhere and comply with the Firm's Agile Working Policy which requires employees to work from the office at least three days each calendar week.
- Must be independently and legally authorized to work in the United States.
Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $260,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
