Job Description

The role

The Product Design and Technology advisor is primarily responsible for creating and refining digital products that enhance the firm's legal services. This role requires a blend of creativity, user experience (UX) expertise, and technical skills to design intuitive and effective digital solutions. The Product Design Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that products meet user needs and align with the firm's strategic goals. In parallel, this role is expected to participate in many of the automation opportunities and advise on approach and next steps.

 

1.    User Experience (UX) Design:

  • Conduct user research to understand the needs, behaviours, and pain points of users.
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, and wireframes to guide the design process.
  • Create prototypes and conduct usability testing to gather feedback and refine designs.
  • Ensure that digital products provide a seamless and intuitive user experience.
     

2.    User Interface (UI) Design:

  • Design visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for digital products.
  • Develop design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across products.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure that designs are implemented accurately.
  • Stay updated on the latest design trends and best practices.

 

3.    Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to define product requirements and goals.
  • Facilitate design workshops and brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and solutions.
  • Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders and gather feedback.
  • Act as a liaison between the design team and other departments to ensure alignment and collaboration.
     

4.    Continuous Improvement:

  • Conduct regular assessments of existing products to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement best practices and methodologies to enhance the firm's design capabilities.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the impact of design initiatives and report findings to senior management.
  • Stay abreast of emerging design trends and technologies to continuously improve the firm's digital products.
     

5.    Project Management:

  • Manage design projects from ideation to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
     

6.    Automation Opportunities:

  • Collaborate with practice area leaders to identify and explore automation opportunities within their respective areas.
  • Design and develop automated solutions to streamline legal processes and improve efficiency.
  • Provide training and support to practice area teams to ensure successful adoption of automation tools.

Qualifications

Your experience

  • Candidate should have experience in product design, preferably within a law firm or corporate environment.
  • Understanding of how a typical law firm operates, the disciplines in the various practices and the processes associated.
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of successfully delivering design projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.

Hybrid Working

This role follows our 'balanced' hybrid working approach and as long as business needs allow, you will be supported to work in a hybrid way with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of your time.
