Job Description

Job Purpose

 

Module Lead is the key contributor for Microsoft BI team who facilitates code productivity and quality using technology knowledge, problem solving skills and innovative ideas. This role is responsible for producing the code that adheres to coding standards and continuously improved to deliver desire business requirements without compromising on quality standards.

 

This role focuses on development, creation, and modification of MSBI software applications, analyse user needs and develop ETL solutions. Enhance and design databases to support front end application, working individually as a lead developer on MSBI Stack and helping development team.

 

This role demands someone with high analytical ability and who is highly committed and motivated. The person should have good communication skills, excellent at removing impediments and breaking down complex tasks into simple easy to complete milestones, willing to jump in and solve the problem.

Position Objectives and Expectations

  • Candidate must have standard MSBI (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) skills on SQL Server 2016 or 2022 or Azure Cloud (SSDT – SQL Server Data tools as an IDE) that relate to following – SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) – Tabular (DAX scripting) and Multidimensional (MDX scripting) cube models, SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services):
    • Experience in SQL Server version with SSDT – SQL Server Data tools as an IDE will be required
    • Person will be involved in SSRS – Report development on OLAP schema using MDX, SSAS (Cube creation – both Tabular and Multi-dimensional, Writing DAX, MDX scripting), SSIS package creation, execution, and deployment of SSAS, SSIS, SSRS objects in a multi-environment setup
    • In addition to standard MSBI stack, candidates having practical knowledge on any dash-boarding tool will be given preference over others for this position having experience in –
      • Creating customized and interactive dashboards using relational schema and/or multi-dimensional data sources (SSAS Cubes)
      • Knowledge on Dashboard Server administration/support
  • Technical Documentation (Low Level Design, Technical specification/approach, PoC/Spikes) and scripted unit testing
  • Performing peer reviews
  • Experience of working in Agile Methodologies from development process perspective

Technical Requirements

 

Required/Essential Skills:

 

Standard Microsoft BI skills (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS) on SQL Server 2016 and higher version with primary focus on SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) – Tabular cube models (DAX scripting), Multi-dimensional cube models (MDX), SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), knowledge on any Dashboard tool will be an added advantage

  • Substantial technology experience of more than 5 years on BI&DW (Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse)
  • Should have experience in OLAP schemas design, development, and deployment of – Tabular and Multi-dimensional cube models, writing DAX and MDX queries
  • Should have experience in SQL SERVER 2016 or SQL SERVER 2022 or Azure Cloud
  • Experience in MS BI Tools – SSRS, SSAS and SSIS (knowledge on SSDT – SQL Server Data Tools IDE)
  • Creating database objects using SQL Server 2016 database (T-SQL) and work on Performance optimization
  • Design, Development and Deployment SSRS reports including paginated reports, highly graphical/charting report outputs, Mobile Reports & KPIs, Custom branding, Data driven subscription, Alerting mechanism etc. Knowledge of Power BI Report Server or Web Portal to deploy SQL 2016 Reports
  • Data warehousing experience using SSIS packages
  • Worked on performance optimization for MSBI tool set – SQL Server (T-SQL), SSAS (cubes), SSIS, SSRS
  • Experience of Tableau dashboard tool & PowerShell scripting from development perspective will be an added advantage
  • Dimensional Modelling Experience
  • An understanding of the range of "Visualizations/Charts" that are available and how they add value to the business when displaying data

 

Desired Skills

  • Microsoft BI tool set certifications
  • Trouble shooting knowledge in BI applications from development support perspective

 

Other Microsoft technology skills –

  • Having basic knowledge of SharePoint and PowerShell scripting

 

 

Additional  Requirements

  • Visual Studio 2015 and above, Experience with configuration and design tools such as Team Foundation Server (TFS), Visio etc

  • Candidate should have good team collaboration skills, high level of attention to detail and good analytical\research capabilities
  • Candidate should be –
    • Punctual, organized and efficient - ability to meet a daily publication deadline
    • Ability to think laterally
    • Strong adherence to processes and ability to solve the problems creatively
    • Ability to remain calm and work effectively with clients when under pressure
    • Competent in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Ability to learn and work on the publication platform

 

 

Education and Experience

  • Requires B.E./B.Tech/MCA from reputed college with high grades, and strong relevant professional experience
