The Role
The person will be working in the DBA team, the scope will be to provide 3rd line support for all the oracle database environments at Clifford Chance. The DBA team has responsibility for maintaining and managing all Oracle databases including GPMS (financials and billing solution), Oracle Grid Control (13c) to deliver a global DBA support capability for Clifford Chance within the IT Operations organisation.
The DBA team is responsible for providing support within the scope and remit of the IT Operations organisation. The responsibility of this team will increase as the scale and scope of the systems being supported continues to grow.
GPMS is a global solution, which will require support on a 24x7x365 basis. Key to this support is the DBA team, these systems are complex and multi technology based solutions and therefore requires skilled and capable individuals that are adept and versatile to meet the demanding needs of such a complex and diverse environment.
It is vital that the DBA can work both within a team environment and when necessary, on their own initiative.
Key Responsibilities
You will be jointly responsible for the operation and support of the Oracle based systems, as part of this role you will provide DBA support to the Oracle production and solution systems.
Tasks undertaken by the DBA team include, but are not restricted to, Cloning, patching and patch management, analysing technical issues including the research, analysis and documenting of problems and ensuring measures are taken to prevent the recurrence of such problems, raising and resolving Oracle SR's, carrying out day to day DBA duties and support, which include daily, weekly, monthly checks, fault analysis and rectification, assisting with technical issues, identification of potential issues and alerting the relevant technical support teams to such issues.
You may at times be required to participate in technical discussions and meetings as required and provide technical assistance to other support and solution teams.
Knowledge sharing is key to the success of the DBA team and therefore participation in or leading training events is part of the role.
Develop, document and maintain, processes and procedures that reflect the tasks undertaken by the DBA team, in addition, you will comply with at all times to production support standards, processes and procedures. While this applies to all activities that relate to Oracle based systems, staff should note that they are obliged to comply with all security requirements.
Your experience
In order to perform this role you will have excellent technical knowledge in the Oracle DBA arena, particularly in Collaboration Suite, Oracle Financials, Oracle Application server, portal administration and RDBMS technologies including RAC.
You must have a minimum of the following;
- Proven experience with Oracle Database version 12c.
- Preferrable Experience of Working with Oracle Database version 19c Container Database.
- Proven experience with Oracle 10gAS
- Proven experience with Oracle Database EBS R12, Shared APPL_TOP, Setup of EBS External Tier.
- Experience of working on GRID Control 13c.
- Experience of working with OAM (Oracle Access Manager), OID (Oracle Internet Directory), Oracle Forms and Reports.
- Experience with Cloning, Patching, Data Import/ Export.
- Working knowledge of RMAN
- Usage of Oracle and eBusiness suite utilities like "rapidclone, adop, adclone, adadmin, adctrl, opatch, autoconfig, OUI, context editor" etc
- Experience with Oracle Portal.
- Strong AS administration skills– including OID, SSO, J2EE.
- In-depth knowledge of PL/SQL and SQL scripting
- Proven experience of the above on Unix Operating systems, ideally Sun Solaris
- Experience of complex enterprise class Oracle based solutions
- Experience of working with Unix scripting
It would be desirable if you had some of the following;
- WEB ADI
- Network architectures and topologies
- Appreciation of complex technical architectures and multi-tier environments
- Working knowledge of OAI (Interconnect)
- Experience of NLS in an Oracle environment
- Supported large end user Production systems (5000+ users)
- Knowledge and usage of system monitoring and alerting tools
- Knowledge and usage of tuning tools and utilities
- Performance tuning experience
In addition, you will have demonstrable problem solving skills and be able to show when and how you used your own initiative to deal with complex issues. You will have excellent communication skills and have a strong self-management capability and be flexible and able to adapt to changing business requirements.
You will need to be conscientious and a self starter with a methodical and analytical approach to the task in hand, you will also have high standards and expectations with a particular focus on quality and delivery in respect of tasks assigned.
It is essential that you are team player and work well under pressure.
