The Role

Client & Market Development – Tech//Digital - Corporate Practice Area

Who you will work with

You will work with the London Corporate Client & Marketing Development ("CMD") team which consists of 11 professionals. The team primarily supports the corporate practice, sector and key client teams to build credibility in key markets , as well as devising strategies to grow existing client relationships, pursue and win new business opportunities and deliver world class marketing support.

You will lead the client and market development activities for the London Tech//Digital team which is split into three pillars – strategic tech advisory (Data, Cyber, AI), complex and tech projects (outsourcing, TSAs) and tech-driven transactions (M&A).

You will work closely with the BD sector leads for our key growth sectors (Tech, Healthcare and Energy) to help cross sell the team's capabilities with our sector clients. You will be an integral member of the Global Tech Group, working closely with the BD lead for the Global Tech Group and the Tech Group marketing team to help support the London partners on driving forward initiatives.

 

What you will be responsible for

You will be an important part of a growing and dynamic practice, with key areas of focus which include AI, strategic sourcing and commercial contracting, digital transformation, data privacy, cybersecurity, tech ethics and emerging technology law.

Your work will involve: creation and delivery of proposal documentation; building profile of the group through marketing, collaboration and events; research into prospective clients, sector and markets; project management; client relationship management, and supporting practice-specific and client development plans. The opportunities are typically cross-practice and multi-jurisdictional, meaning close collaboration with colleagues throughout the network.

The team also has a responsibility to continually maintain deal information, prepare directory and award submissions for the groups that they individually support. This role will also include the requirement to work closely with senior stakeholders on technology-based marketing tools and products.

 

What you will do

You will:

  • Lead and support on pitch documents and presentation materials, including support the pitch process from the initial kick-off meeting through to presentation rehearsals.
  • Maintain relevant sector and practice materials (capability statements and brochures).
  • Support the implementation of the group's business plan, client targets and strategic priorities, including organising and attending team offsites to progress against these objectives.
  • Lead on client feedback activities in the context of relationship management, pitches and matters.
  • Lead on key client events and seminars for the practice.
  • Research and analyse clients and targets of the groups using various research tools to assist in BD activities.
  • Be responsible for maintaining and updating practice area matters, website pages and fee earner profiles.
  • Work with practice area assistants to oversee the continuous upkeep of the practice's client details, BD activities, lawyer information and client management.
  • Help prepare the group's key directory submissions and support the directory research cycle including liaising with the researchers and lawyers.
  • Work on projects with other team members when needed, including marketing, thought leadership and events.

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • Experience of working on competitive proposals ideally within the professional services market
  • Strong project management and analytical capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written (editing and proofing ability, and high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise projects and respond quickly to requests which have a short turnaround time
  • Track record of being pro-active and delivering high quality work
  • Generally, strong software skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • A genuine interest in technology, and a willingness to learn more about the industry
  • Exceptional team player, highly motivated, self-starter, committed to high performance.

This role follows our 'balanced' hybrid working approach and as long as business needs allow, you will be supported to work in a hybrid way with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of your time.
