The role
Leading a team of senior business advisors, the COE manager is responsible for delivery of services provided by the COE.
An established part of the One Finance Team, the COE collaborates with legal and business professional functions to ensure our finance systems are understood, fit for purpose, have a clear roadmap and support the firm's strategic objectives.
The COE manager co-chairs the One Finance Team – Systems Community
The role is also responsible for the continued improvement of the COE services ensuring they remain aligned with the One Finance Team objectives and Firm Strategy
Who you will work with
The role is highly collaborative working with the following Legal and business professional functions, specifically:
- Senior Heads of Finance
- Office Finance Heads
- Local Finance teams
- IT - Product Management team
- Senior Business Professional Leaders
What you will be responsible for
- Leadership of the COE team of expert business advisers
- Management of competing priorities to ensure services provided by the COE are delivered according to scope and timetable.
- Monitoring and reviewing quality of service and efficiency of processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as required
- Key stakeholder role in Finance System upgrades and change and transformation projects
- Business approval of all finance system changes
- Understanding the wider business context and firm strategy to ensure that the COE team is delivering changes in line with business priorities.
What you will do
- Ensure user acceptance testing is completed according to agreed KPI's (for both project and operational changes)
- Ensure appropriate communication is provided for operational changes and/or system issues
- As co-chair of the One Finance Team Systems Community, ensure the community delivers to agree quarterly objectives and remains in line with the community purpose
- Ensure key system processes (e.g. Month end, budget cycles) are planned, executed and aligned with business requirements
- Escalation point for finance systems solutions and service issues.

Your experience
- Proven project management capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to discuss complex issues with a varied audience
- Ideally has an in-depth knowledge of a global law firm (or professional services firm) finance processes and procedures, including legislative requirements.
- Proven leadership of expert teams
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA), or appropriate business experience considered in lieu of formal qualifications
- Understanding of accounting, financial related processes (GL, AP, FA, Inter-office, Billing and Cash management etc.) and ERP implementation and support.
- Excellent external and internal stakeholder relationship management.
- Good working experience of working with and managing global teams
- Ability to come up with new ideas, iterate and execute independently.
- Good presentation skills with ability to compile credible facts and figures
- Good analytical skills, should be comfortable with analysis tools e.g. PL/SQL
- Proven experience and understanding of ERP platforms, data structures and user interfaces
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
