The Role

 

Clifford Chance is looking for an experienced Forensic Technology (FTech) Data Analytics Manager in its London office. As part of FTech team, we are dedicated to delivering data-driven insights to Clifford Chance legal team and to our clients, empowering them to make informed decisions. We are seeking a highly skilled data analytics specialist with a strong background in accounting or consulting to join our dynamic team.

Who you will work with

You will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary Forensic Group within the L&DR practice area. This group comprises of qualified accountants and technologists who specialise in conducting thorough investigations and financial analyses. You will also work closely with the legal team and fee earners from other global offices, providing data-driven insights and analytics across the firm's network.

What you will be responsible for

As Forensic Technology (FTech) Data Analytics Manager, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive data analysis to identify and interpret trends or patterns within complex structured and unstructured data sets, thereby providing our legal teams with the actionable intelligence they need to serve our clients effectively.

What you will do

  • Conducting comprehensive data analysis to identify and interpret trends or patterns within complex data sets, including both structured and unstructured data, to provide insightful recommendations to our legal teams on client matters.
  • Collaborating with clients to extract value from their information assets by partnering with domain experts and integrating innovative data analytics solutions into our existing service offerings.
  • Collecting relevant data, performing analyses, and generating reports, including the cleaning, processing, and correlation of raw data to identify discernible patterns.
  • Working within multi-disciplinary teams across various industries to assist our clients in transforming and enhancing their business operations through the application of advanced analytics.
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining insightful data dashboards and reports utilising tools such as Tableau, Power BI and other data visualization tools to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Communicating complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner, presenting findings through precise reports and effective data visualisation techniques.
  • Crafting complex SQL queries for the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from diverse sources to support analytical requirements.
  • Engaging in close collaboration with Forensic Group (including Accountants and Technologists), legal teams and clients to comprehend their data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
  • Articulating findings and strategic recommendations to stakeholders in a coherent and impactful manner.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data within all reports and analytical outputs.
  • Assisting in financial modelling and forecasting activities to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Keeping abreast if industry trends and best practices in the realm of financial data analytics to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications

Your experience 

 

  • A degree in a technology-related field such as Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics is desirable. A master's degree in one of these disciplines is also highly desirable. Applicants should also have significant mid-senior level work experience in data analytics, ideally gained within a leading accounting or consultancy firm.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly SQL, Python, VBA, or C#.
  • Proficiency in using data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Experience with data analytics software, for example, Alteryx, Qlik, or RStudio.
  • Advanced technical skills in MS Excel and PowerShell.
  • Experience in handling large datasets, including database creation, architecting efficient data structures, and writing optimised stored procedures and queries.
  • Experience in developing models using R and Python programming languages, including the use of relevant libraries.
  • A visually creative approach with a good understanding of UX aesthetics
  • A strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience in working with diverse datasets and the ability to shape and manipulate data effectively.
  • Proven ability to deliver insights and present them effectively through data visualisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-motivated individual who can quickly assimilate a brief, take full ownership of financial due diligence data analytics projects, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritising effectively.
  • A focused and adaptable team player who is comfortable working in high-pressure situations, and who can adapt to frequent changes or unpredictability.
  • Experience in a professional services environment, including involvement with high-profile transactions.

This role follows our 'balanced' hybrid working approach and as long as business needs allow, you will be supported to work in a hybrid way with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of your time.
