The role
The Global Marketing & Communications Lead - Global Financial Markets (GFM) and Financial Services sector will drive development and delivery of the global marketing and communications strategy and programmes for the core clients, markets and products associated with the firm's GFM Global Business Unit and Financial Services sector.
The purpose of this newly created role is to leverage multiple marketing and communications disciplines (including media relations, brand building, digital marketing, social media, thought leadership and content marketing and internal communications) to directly contribute to the firm's growth ambition.
The role will focus on development and execution of integrated marketing and communications strategies for GFM and Financial Services, including the development of key messaging and creative campaigns targeted at our current and prospective clients, as well as critical internal audiences to improve the profile of the Clifford Chance offering, continue to strengthen the competitive position of the firm globally and support revenue generation.
Who you will work with
The Brand, Communications & Marketing (BCM) function plays a critical role in supporting the Firm in pursuing its strategic objectives. The BCM team proactively manages the Firm's brand and reputation across key stakeholder groups, supports internal engagement and alignment with the Firm's strategy and develops our profile in support of our commercial objectives.
The Global Marketing & Communications Lead will work directly with the Head of Brand, Marketing & Communications – Financial Services, Global Financial Markets, and Private Capital and with the leadership team of the GFM Business Unit, the leaders of our Financial Services sector team and the Global Head of Client and Market Development for GFM. They will collaborate closely with other specialists across the firm including our Knowledge, Expertise, Thought Leadership professionals to ensure that our communications and marketing activity supports and enables the success of the firm's business strategy, strengthens our value proposition to clients and sets us apart from our competitors.
What you will do
You will develop a deep understanding of our client base and will work hand in hand with partners as well as members of the Client & Market Development team to drive activities which are directly aligned with revenue opportunities.
Activity will include but not be limited to:
- Development of an integrated multichannel marketing and communications strategy and plan, based on GFM's growth priorities, insights into clients, markets, products and external trends.
- Establishing and embedding compelling global messaging across key channels to appropriately position the firm's Financial Services sector offering across Banking, Insurance Asset Management and Fintech.
- Developing trusted relationships with internal clients (partners, sector leads and Business Unit leadership) educate on the value of marketing opportunities and provide confident strategic advice.
- Working with our client & market development and thought leadership teams, to develop and execute measurable integrated marketing and communications campaigns, which support lead generation and increase recognition of the Clifford Chance brand across priority clients, markets and products. Ensure that these campaigns are aligned with and support the firm's global vision and strategy and resonate regionally and locally across the firm's network.
- In close conjunction with our media relations team, identifying key themes for media activity, helping to develop robust proof points and insight that will support our market profile and positioning.
- Supporting our global GFM team in the delivery of internal communications programmes to support the strategy; ensuring these are aligned with and support global internal communications campaigns for the firm.
- Ensuring all plans and campaigns are realistically budgeted, and that the associated spend is carefully controlled.
- Identifying metrics for evaluating the success of our activity, and ensuring that this information is used constantly to improve the quality and impact of our brand, marketing and communications programmes.
Your experience
We are looking for an experienced marketing communications professional with:
- Extensive experience and knowledge of global financial markets and/or financial services (in banking, insurance, asset management or fintech)
- A strong commercial acumen and understanding of how marketing and communications programmes support revenue generation.
- A robust understanding and direct experience across marketing, communications and brand management and a track record of developing and executing successful campaigns in complex, global organisations.
- A team player with a collaborative approach to working, and an ability to engage and influence to align senior stakeholders and disparate teams.
- An international mindset and ability to work across multiple geographic markets, appreciating the different cultural dynamics and how those need to be reflected in our marketing and communications programmes.
- A self-starter, able to identify opportunities and with the resilience and hands-on attitude required to drive progress.
- A strong grasp of thought leadership and content marketing approaches and how these can be applied most effectively to support brand and commercial goals.
- An understanding of go-to market, client acquisition and client development strategies for advisory businesses and complex B2B organisations.
- Experience of working in a Professional Services environment is a significant advantage.
