As a strategic advisor, you will work with GBU and product group leadership to define and implement appropriate transformation and innovation strategies for product delivery to maximise benefits to clients and to the firm. You will ensure the improvements deliver benefit realisation, value creation, ROI and the achievement of results and outcomes directly linked to the firm's global business strategy.

Who you will work with

You will work closely with GBU Partner, practice management and KETL leadership to ensure that transformation and innovation is seen by clients as a differentiator for Clifford Chance. You will also collaborate extensively with senior leadership across GBUs, including other Global Practice Area Leaders (GPALs), Global Practice Area Managers (GPAMs), the Global Clients, Markets and Products Partner, the Chief Client Officer, the Global COO, Regional Practice Area Managers (RPAMs) /Regional Business Managers (RBMs), Regional COOs, Regional Managing Partners and Regional CFOs.

What you will be responsible for

You will act as a subject matter expert ('SME') on transformation within the GBU.

In collaboration with the GPAL and GPAM, as well as group and product leads, you will define and implement transformation and innovation strategies, across products within the GBU, ensuring alignment with the firm's global strategic goals, to include:

  • Prioritisation of products/work types/locations where intervention (streamlining/modernisation/digitalisation) will most effectively drive income and/or profitability.
  • Rollout of priority use cases for the suite of AI tools and other legal technology solutions across the GBU globally.
  • KPIs and other measures of success for all GBU transformation and innovation plans, established in collaboration with the Best Delivery COE

You have responsibility for working with the GBU colleagues to deliver Key Performance indicators established to measure effectiveness of the transformation activities across the GBU. You will oversee the delivery of the strategies, including identifying and mitigating any key strategic risks.

You will align your methodologies and standards to the global Transformation Framework and play a key role in helping to evolve and embed the framework and innovatively apply it to technology rollout, change management and process improvement. You will work with partners and associates as an SME to support and drive the adoption of new ways of working and to remove barriers as needed.

You will collaborate on client engagements where innovation and transformation has been identified as a key driver of growth, ensuring alignment with GBU Partners, the Clients, Markets and Products Committee and the Growth Strategy.

You will collaborate on external engagements with clients and the legal services sector on transformation topics to ensure that Clifford Chance generally and your GBU as a whole as well as GBU Partners are recognised as a leader in innovation and transformation.

You will represent your GBU in the global Centre of Excellence.

What you will do

Own, maintain and deliver the transformation strategy, focusing on people, process and technology.

Work closely with the GBU's senior leadership team to ensure there is a clear transformation and innovation roadmap with clearly defined plans, benefits and KPIs.

Lead and facilitate the change and transformation strategy across your GBU, implementing a range of change activities.

Ensure alignment across the key strategic objectives and activities, that key milestones and KPIs are met and that key strategic and long-term projects are on track.

Coordinate with transformation leaders in other GBUs and IT to ensure a consistent approach is taken on governance and delivery of transformation projects or initiatives.

Enable the best transformation and innovation decisions to be made at the most appropriate level and resolve escalated issues.

Put in place methods to monitor progress, report on effectiveness, analysing and responding to performance metrics.

Act as an ambassador for transformation and innovation across the GBU globally, regularly staying up to date with best practice and through a proactive communications plan, acting as an advocate both internally and externally.

Identify business risks to user adoption or compliance and identify and manage mitigations.

Map and manage detailed stakeholder relationships, leading on engagement with a broad range of senior business stakeholders and project sponsors. Manage and maintain the stakeholder plans. Actively coach and support critical business change enablers.

The success of this role will primarily be measured by feedback from the Global Practice Area Leaders (GPALs), Regional Practice Area Leaders (RPALs), Global Practice Area Managers (GPAMs), Regional Business Managers and Practice Area Managers and partners; the extent to which the transformation team yields benefits to our clients and the firm; and the successful rollout of new ways of working within the GBU.
