When I was young, I always wanted to be a “scientist”. At the time I didn't understand what was behind this collective term, but in retrospect it seems to be an expression of my urge to understand how laws arise and how they work. When I wrote a thesis on the reform laws passed by the Bundestag during my Abitur, I realized that law was exactly the right thing for me.

After studying law, I got to know the "litigation" department in a large law firm while working as a doctoral assistant and realized that I could use the knowledge I had acquired during my studies in this area most effectively. During my legal clerkship I then joined Clifford Chance's "Litigation & Arbitration" department, where I have been professionally rooted ever since.

In addition to the classification of economic contexts, each case requires a specific legal assessment and an individual strategic orientation.

Added to this is the wide range of topics, which often requires close coordination with other specialist departments, sometimes even with foreign offices. For example, I was recently entrusted with a case that had cross-border connections between Germany, France and Belgium and in which I was responsible for coordinating the processes with the offices in Paris and Brussels. It was interesting to observe the different ways in which different jurisdictions look at one and the same issue and the sometimes strange results this can lead to.REACHCE

In addition to client work, joining Clifford Chance offers a wide range of career-related and personal development opportunities. Since 2019, I have been acting as an associate spokesman at the communicative interface between my colleagues and management. In addition, I was given the opportunity to participate in REACH CE. REACH CE stands for "Racial Equality And Cultural Heritage" Continental Europe and is part of Clifford Chance's broader "Diversity & Inclusion" strategy. It aims to empower ethnic and social minorities and is based on the three pillars "Visibility, Attraction , retention”.

While the first two pillars are about making REACH CE visible to the outside world and increasing its attractiveness to talent from ethnic and social minorities, retention aims to bind precisely these talents to Clifford Chance in the long term. In a steering committee, a team from different European offices of Clifford Chance advises on the basic direction of REACH CE, on whose implementation I then work with some colleagues in a purely German "Executive Committee". The approach of depicting the diversity practiced at Clifford Chance in brochures and on career websites - for example by including my profile - came from a suggestion from the Executive Committee.
